SPECTACLE LENSES

A LENS FOR EVERY EYE

There have been a lot of exciting advances in the design of lenses for spectacles and prescription sunglasses.  At Eyecare Plus Springvale we can advise you on the best lens for you with options such as:

  • High index materials – for thinner and lighter lenses
  • Aspheric lens designs – for flatter lenses, less likely to bulge
  • UV protection – to prevent the transmission of harmful UV rays
  • Photosensitive materials – that tint in response to sunlight
  • Blue-light filters – to filter out harmful blue light found in LED screens
  • Anti-reflective coatings – creating a surface that is easier to clean, more scratch resistant and UV protected.

RODENSTOCK

DNEye Scanner

The DNEye scanner takes measurements at 7000 data points across the eye and then calculates a biometric model using 80 different parameters such as eye (axial) length, spherical corneal power, astigmatic corneal power, crystalline lens thickness and pupil size (in light and dark conditions). It uses information from the topography, pachymetry and aberrometry to calculate and build this computer model.

These biometric measurements are used to make the most precise individualised lenses that enable the sharpest vision possible. They are available in single vision, anti-fatigue and progressive lenses.

There are currently about 70 of these special scanners in Australia.

ImpressionIST

The ImpressionIST takes 3D video images of a frame worn on an individual to calculate precisely all the angles of light entering from the lens into the patient’s eyes. Every frame sits differently on an individual. These measurements allow for a perfect match of frames and lenses for that individual.

Taking measurements on the ImpressionIST is easy. The patient is guided by the system where to stand. The patient then looks ahead into the mirror as two cameras take images of the frame from different angles. The measurements are then used in conjunction with the patient’s test results and the biometric scans to produce tailor-made lenses to allow for easy adaption and sharp vision. Information on the lens thickness, weight, and dimensions fitted to the frame of choice are instantly available.
