This test assesses how much area of our vision we can see around us when the eyes are fixated straight ahead. It is used to diagnose neurological conditions such as brain tumours and ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, as well as diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy. The test typically takes about 4 minutes to do on each eye.  There are various programs. The optometrist will determine which one is required based on clinical information during the initial examination. Sometimes VicRoads require specific fields test to be performed.
